Claudine Longet
"I was not a singer though I had sung with the family on Andy's [husband Andy Williams] first Christmas special. I felt a little embarrassed about singing 'Meditation.' [on the television show "Run for Your Life" episode "That Sadness of the Happy Time" that aired May 16, 1966]." Herb Alpert saw the show, called Claudine and asked if she would be interested in recording.
Her single "Meditation" was the first of eight singles to chart in the United States.
CLAUDINE AND THE LOOK OF LOVE (1967)
The album Claudine was Billboard's #42 in its list of Top LP's and #40 on Cash Box's Top Albums of 1967. It was s top 20 album on the Cash Box album chart while The Look Of Love was a top 30 album on that chart.
"Hello, Hello" was a Top 10 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart and also broke into the Hot 100 singles chart. "Small Talk" was #38 on Billboard's Easy Listening Singles chart.
"Snow" peaked at #30 on Billboard's Christmas Singles chart for 1967.
"Wanderlove" was #3 in Singapore on September 23, 1967.
Cash Box reported that her first album Claudine was a Top 10 and her second album The Look Of Love had advance orders for more than 125,000 copies.
A&M Records worked a promotional campaign for the single "Here, There and Everywhere" hoping to make it Claudine's first hit for the label. Record World mentioned the single was at #27 on its Top Non-Rock chart ("a list of singles tabulated from radio stations throughout the country programming non-rock) on March 25, 1967.
LOVE IS BLUE (1968)
In 1968, Singapore rated Longet as its #17 Top International Artist. She had one record that made the charts there. Billboard placed Claudine as its #3 Top Female Vocalist and at #22 in all categories on its Top Artists On Campus based on record album sales at more than 500 college bookstores and record shops.
Love Is Blue was a Top 30 album on the Billboard Top 200 and the Billboard Easy Listening album chart.
The single "White Horses" charted at #33 on Billboard's Easy Listening singles chart as did "Walk In the Park."
Record World named Longet the #3 Most Promising Female Vocalist of 1968. Billboard named her the #39 Top Easy Listening Artist.
COLOURS (1969)
Billboard ranked Longet as the #5 female vocalist of 1969 as part of its Top Selling Album Artists On Campus and #86 of all ranked artists.
"A Flea In Her Ear" peaked at #31 on the Billboard Easy Listening singles chart.
RUN WILD, RUN FREE (1970)
In August 1970, A&M Records opted not to renew Claudine Longet's contract.
