ALMO INTERNATIONAL HISTORY

This division of A&M Records produced 29 singles, both promotional and stock issues, from 1963 until 1966. Its artist roster was almost independent of A&M Records although the Baja Marimba Band and Lucille Starr had singles on both labels. They were the only artists to release more than one single on Almo International and the only artists to release albums and singles on A&M Records. Each cracked the Top 100 of Billboard's Pop Singles chart with these Almo International singles-- "Comin' in the Back Door" by the Baja Marimba Band and "The French Song" by Lucille Starr.

"Comin' in the Back Door" by the Baja Marimba Band was the only Almo International single to be released later on A&M's Forget-Me-Not and Memories series of double-sided hits.

The Elementary School Band was signed to the label in November 1965.
