Sweet Plum was begun by Brian Chater on October 27, 1972 as an affiliate of Much Records. When Much entered a distribution agreement with A&M Records Canada on September 1, 1973, Sweet Plum was included and was distributed by A&M Records of Canada from 1973-1974.
