BURT BACHARACH 1956

In 1956, Bacharach, as a performer, was known as a pianist. In February he was part of a group of entertainers who traveled to the Caribbean to entertain American troops that were training there.

Johnny Mathis told Billboard, [Mitch Miller]  put me on the right track and gave me some [songs] that were more suitable for my voice. He gave me a stack of music that was as tall as I was and said, “Find four songs.” So I found “When Sunny Gets Blue,” “It’s Not for Me to Say,” a song called “Warm and Tender” — by a guy nobody ever heard of called Burt Bacharach — and “Wonderful! Wonderful!.” (Billboard December 17, 2016)
